On 19th May, children's author and illustrator Duncan Beedie visited Kings Worthy Primary School in Hampshire to talk about his book 'Heavy Metal Badger'. He read his book aloud, showed the children how to draw their own versions of the musical badger and answered many questions about the writing and illustrating process. This very successful visit was fully funded by The Professor Sir William Taylor Foundation.

Since its launch in January this year, The Professor Sir William Taylor Foundation has supported two initiatives. A grant of £1,000 was awarded to Shottermill Infant School in Surrey to help refurbish its library, and a further £1,000 donation was made to The Children’s Literacy Charity.

Looking ahead, two exciting new projects are currently in development:

  • A grant to a primary school in Hampshire to fund a visit from a children’s author.

  • The establishment of a scholarship to fully cover the tuition fees for a Master's in Education student at the University of Winchester, where Sir William spent several years in retirement as a Visiting Professor. We are proud to partner with the University to offer this scholarship in his honour.

More information about both of these projects will be shared here soon. Please check back for updates.
